Apulia is one of the most beautiful regions in southern Italy and the Gargano area is one of its “must see” places, among the most beautiful and suggestive that we can find in this region. Known for its many attractions and amazing weather the APuglia region is a important destination for many Italian and foreign tourists, especially during the summer. In the Gargano, also called the “spur of Italy” you can find beautiful beaches and nature reserves, and in the area there is also a vast array of varied cuisine, rich in typical products like olive oil and Bagels. This place is a perfect destination for those who want to spend their days surrounded by the sea and nature. Below are some routes to follow during a vacation on the Gargano.

If you want to enjoy a historic or artistic itinerary, the places to visit are most definitely Vieste, Peschici and Rodi Garganico. Vieste, the largest of the three towns, is an ideal location to welcome the summer tourists, with its numerous hotels and resorts, but at the same time is also a city rich in history. One can wander in quaint medieval old town with its picturesque streets and old stone houses, until you reach the castello svevo. Peschici, instead, rises on a hill overlooking the sea. Is called “the White City” because of the colour of its houses, and is characterized by a delightful old town with its shops, where you can purchase many locally made handicraft products. Rodi Garganico, located west of Peschici, is surrounded by olive groves and citrus trees. The Church of St. Nicholas of Myra, with its Greek-Byzantine campanile, the sanctuary of the Madonna della Libera and the Aragonese castle are among the obligatory stops in a tour of this area.

Here, you can follow dedicated routes on foot or with a bicycle to admire the beauties of flora and fauna. Not to be missed is: the tour of sea caves along the coastline of the headland, and the Tremiti Islands. Both places can be visited by booking a trip on one of the many small boats that depart from Vieste or Garganico Rhodes.
